Gasmate introduced the first Patio Heater into the Australian domestic market in 1999. The unprecedented popularity & perceived versatility of this product, ensured than within 18 months of the first model having been released, that most major retail outlets & consumers were aware of this new form of outdoor heating. In fact, the introduction of outdoor heating was the catalyst in the creation of what we now term,  'Al Fresco' living.  This form of heating lead to the evolution of elaborate outdoor entertaining areas. Patio Heaters & Area Heaters were designed to specifically extend the entertaining periods of the year, particularly in the cooler States of Australia.  The later introduction of the Area Heater was another 'Gasmate' innovation, which enable the use of an outdoor heater in locations where previously the taller Patio Heaters could not be used.
