How to cook the perfect pizza in your Gasmate Pizza Oven
26th May, 2021
Pizzas make everyone happy. They are so versatile and the topping variations are endless, making them the perfect treat for parties, movie nights and everything in between.
We’re not sure about you but there’s something special about a homemade pizza compared to a store-bought one. And there’s something even better about a home cooked pizza when it’s been cooked to perfection in the Gasmate outdoor pizza oven!
We’ve got a few tips and tricks for you to follow to ensure that you get the perfect pizza every, single, time.
Forming the dough
A pinch of salt
The dough is the base of your pizza’s flavour. To make a standard pizza dough, combine 700 grams of flour, 50 grams of yeast, lukewarm water and salt to taste. Blend well and knead thoroughly by hand until the dough is soft and compact. Let the dough rise in a dry place until it’s time to start shaping your dough into your preferred pizza shape.
Good quality canned tomatoes, peeled and crushed
Following the trend of chef Johnny Di Francesco, who was awarded the world’s best margherita pizza, for a simple yet deliciously authentic pizza sauce, simply spread good quality canned tomatoes across your pizza base.
Adding the toppings
Apply a thin layer of the pizza sauce onto the dough. Be careful as to not add too much otherwise you’ll end up with a soggy crust. Now it’s time to have fun with the toppings! If you’re thinking of adding vegetables to your pizza, we suggest pre-cooking those to really ensure that they’re cooked through entirely.
Baking the pizza
Preheat the oven at the high temperature of around 250℃ to stabilise the heat during cooking time. Generally the hotter your oven is, the more cooked through your pizza becomes.
Cook your pizza on a pizza tray for about 10 minutes and then slide it, using a pizza spatula, onto the stone for about 20-30 seconds to crisp the base.
Take the pizza out, let it cool, and serve!
