Winter Camping Adventures - Where We're Going and What We're Packing
9th June, 2022
Winter is such an amazing time of the year for camping - we don’t know about you but the cool weather and frosty temperatures provides an entirely different, tranquil experience. Get ready for your next winter getaway by packing all your camping gear and check out some of these beautiful destinations that we know you’ll love!
Depot Beach (South Coast, NSW)
This is one of our favourite winter camping spots in Australia. Depot Beach is located in the central precinct of Murramarang National Park. Featuring spectacular scenery stretching from gorgeous coastlines and lush rainforests, as well as lots of opportunities to spot wildlife, like birds, kangaroos and dolphins, you’ll find something that the whole family can enjoy! To make your trip extra cosy, don’t forget to pack a portable gas heater and a portable camping stove to whip up some hearty meals to keep everyone warm.
Kakadu National Park (Jabiru, NT)
Immerse yourself in the beauty of Kakadu National Park this winter. You’ll be spoilt for choice with what you can do here: stunning walks, gorgeous swimming spots in their natural plunge pools and waterfalls, and you can enjoy watching their wildlife! Kakadu National Park is located 150 kilometres south east of Darwin and its campgrounds are fitted with basic facilities. To make your trip even more comfortable though, why not consider packing one of Gasmate’s Portable Barbecues to amp up your camping meals? And for some added luxury, why not pack our Portable Hot Water System to warm your showers after a day out on the water?
Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park (Inneston, SA)
Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park is an IUCN-designated protected area in South Australia, about 300 kilometres west of Adelaide. This magnificent national park is one of the top choices among fishers, campers, bushwalkers and swimmers alike. What makes this spot one of our favourites is that the winter season adds an air of magic to the rugged, coastal landscapes and sandy beaches. Bushwalking is a fantastic way to explore the area, with trails that range in length from 30 minutes to four hours. If bushwalking is not for you, don’t worry - there’s something for everyone! Visit one of the many lighthouses, go for a swim or a surf, or enjoy an afternoon of fishing. Don’t forget a trusty tent to withstand the elements, as well as great quality sleeping bags for a cosier winter camping experience!
